MEET THE LADY BEHIND THE LENS

Crystal is a first-generation Barbadian-American who grew up in Boston, worked in TV/film production in New York City but now calls Florida her home. She has always had a passion for media – often through a social justice lens. Since childhood, you could find her glued to the TV watching the news from around the world or filming with her iconic red Nikon camera. 

In 2017, Crystal began The Crystal Lens as a media platform with the purpose of highlighting the diverse and intersectional voices that are often forgotten and/or silenced in society. She saw a need for people of color, specifically women to be in more leadership roles as it pertained to creating meaningful and empowering media. So it became clear that the mission of The Crystal Lens would be not only to serve as a media platform to highlight the underrepresented voices in society but also simultaneously provide production opportunities for young people of color to gain hands-on media experience.

Crystal is also a die-hard travelista who LOVES exploring new cultures & destinations both domestic and international, with a goal of touching down on all 7 continents before her 30th birthday.
